Basic Movement

  • Go through the stance checklist from video 1!
  • Moving forward – push off the back foot and take a step with the lead foot. To move backward push off the front foot and take a step with the back.
  • Make sure that when you’re moving the stance never changes, athletically bent with the knees and the same space remaining between your feet.
  • To move laterally when you move to the lead side (left foot for orthodox, right foot for a southpaw) push off your rear foot and step with the lead foot.
  • To move laterally when you move to the rear side (right foot for orthodox, left foot for a southpaw) push off the lead foot and step with the rear foot.
  • Always reclaiming that stance as you move to a new location. ** avoid ever crossing your feet or getting them lined up to straight as it comprises your athletic position & balance.
